Stephen Smith hit a three-run home run and Hunter Douglas provided a clutch hit late to help Frenship win the rubber match of a hard-fought series with Monterey, 9-6, Saturday at Moegle Field.
The two teams combined for just seven runs while splitting the first two games earlier in the week, but the offenses came alive in the finale with a total of 20 hits.
Smith’s homer, his first of the season, gave Frenship a 5-2 lead in the second, but Monterey bounced back with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead.
